1 min read
By: Scott Knowlton

This year has been a little different. Due to COVID-19, industry events were forced to cancel, postpone and/or go virtual. The CXL Consortium shifted our focus to virtual opportunities in order to further promote CXL technology – utilizing virtual Technical Training and educational webinars. Last month, the CXL Consortium had an opportunity to participate in two industry events – Flash Memory Summit and Supercomputing (SC’20). Please continue reading for a recap of both events.

Flash Memory Summit 2020 (FMS)

FMS is one of the largest industry events showcasing trends, innovation, and influencers for flash memory in enterprise storage, high-performance computing, and cloud systems. The CXL Consortium presented on the newly released CXL 2.0 specification as well as participated in a panel discussion “Where the New High-Speed Interfaces Fit and How They Work Together” with industry liaison, Gen-Z Consortium.

If you missed the opportunity to watch our presentation during FMS, it is now available on-demand on YouTube. To get more insight on the hottest topics at FMS, industry analyst Tom Coughlin shared an FMS 2020 recap article on Forbes.

Supercomputing 2020 (SC’20)

SC’20 – the industry event for high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis – attracted 7,440 attendees from over 115 countries. The CXL Consortium participated in a panel presentation “Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) and Gen-Z Protocols: Bridging the Resource Gap Between CPU, Memory and Accelerators” with the Gen-Z Consortium.

Looking forward to 2021

Participating and speaking at industry events is important for the Consortium as we continue to grow and develop the industry ecosystem for CXL. We are looking forward to interacting with you in virtual, hybrid and in-person industry events next year.
